John is currently pursuing art studies at Contra Costa Community College. He is in the 2nd year of an associates program. His current focus is on learning new skills, and improving his observational, drawing, and painting skills. His near-term goal is to complete the program and continue to work and study as an independent artist.
John is a retired electrical engineer and educator. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from California State University (1980) and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University (1985). During his career as an engineer, he worked for the University of California for 20 years, and spent 8 years working at small companies in the East Bay and Silicon Valley. After retiring from the University of California, John worked as an adjunct instructor at Laney College in Oakland, California for 4 years. He taught trade classes in electricity, electronics, mathematics, and electric motors and drives.
